JOGL is a Java API which provides bindings to the OpenGL libraries for the Java Virtual Machine. This allows computer graphics programmers to use the object-oriented tools for Java with hardware-accellerated 2D and 3D graphics while leveraging their existing knowledge of OpenGL.
Java Bindings for OpenGL is specified in JSR-231 and the development version of the Java Bindings for OpenGL is hosted as an open-source project at java.net here.
For those of you who are not familiar with OpenGL, OpenGL is a a cross-language cross-platform application programming interface to graphics hardware.
